A little over 2 years ago I rebuilt my 3rd generation computer, replacing the case, motherboard, processor, RAM, CPU cooler, graphics cards, and optical drives. The 4th Gen build consisted of the HAF X Case
EVGA P67 FTW
Intel i7 2600k
EVGA GeForce GTX 570 Classified
the Corsair H50 CPU Cooler
a single DVD burner (down from double drives), and 4 hard drives (64GB Samsung 830 SSD, 2x 500GB 7200 SATA, 1x 1TB 7200 SATA)
I originally had dual EVGA Geforce GTX 250’s, first SLI’d, then separated (dedicated Physx). After replacing the dual config with the single 570, I kept one of the 250’s to act as a dedicated Physx, and additional Folding@Home GPU. Later I removed the 250; I believe it started to have RAM problems.
For the 5th Gen build I will only be replacing the 570, with the brand new EVGA 760 SC with ACX Cooler . Its pretty respectable spec-wise, and I had no problem shelling out the $125 for it… That’s right, I had $140 in EVGA bucks, so this brand new card, that was just released today (June 25th) was only $125! I’m feeling pretty good about it, in case you can’t tell.
A full review will soon follow, but early benchmarks are already looking awesome!
